Agent guide

Claude Code is the strong default when one agent needs to handle implementation, review iteration, and longer task loops without a lot of custom routing logic.

Binary: claude-codeAliases: claude, ccBest for long implementation loops

Primary binary

claude-code

Known aliases

claude, cc, claude-cli

Good fit

General refactoring, review iterations, and longer implementation loops.

Set up Claude Code in Conductor

1

Install Claude Code

2

Complete authentication

Follow the CLI login flow so the claude-code binary can run successfully from the same shell environment that will launch Conductor.
3

Launch Conductor

Add a workspace if this is the first run, then choose Claude Code as the default agent for the project.
4

Set it as the project default

Model selection in Conductor

Conductor does not keep a separate Claude model whitelist. The Claude Code CLI, your Anthropic account, and your workspace permissions decide which Claude models are available in that environment.
  • leave agentConfig.model unset when you want Conductor to follow the current Claude Code default
  • pin agentConfig.model only when a repository needs one exact Claude model for repeatability
  • use repo-level defaults first and keep task-level model changes rare

Why teams pick Claude Code

  • reliable default for mixed codebases
  • good review-followup behavior
  • easy fit for repos that do not need exotic routing
